50 Years Here
1975-2025
Celebrating 50 years of Audium with an anniversary season
In 1975, Audium opened its doors for the first time at 1616 Bush Street with the premiere of Audium VI. 136 speakers, an analog system, and far less dust. Composed by Stan Shaff, Audium VI was performed live every Friday and Saturday. Twice a night! 1975 marked the beginning of a new era for Audium, and helped shape what it has become today.

Fifty years later, the space is still here. The carpet, the floor, most of its chairs, the walls, and many of the speakers. The EXIT sign? Not so lucky. Audium has always pushed forward towards the new & the now.
This year, we’re highlighting all Audium has been- a small personal project- and what it is becoming- a hub for sound artists. Join us as we explore Audium’s history, and experiment with new artists and possibilities, at the limits of space and sound.
Sounds good? Check out what’s in store this summer:
