Audium’s 176 speakers bathe listeners in sound & music that moves past, over, and under them. Sound sculptures are performed in darkness in the 49-seat theater.

Wonder what Audium sounded like in the late 60s? Audium V rewinds audiences back to 1969. Find yourself inside an old muscle-car, feel a Pan-American flight fly right through you, and meditate in a cacophony of fog horns. One can only imagine what audiences at that time (54 years ago!) must have thought.

An exploration of oscillations and opposites: large-small, organic-synthetic, long-short, familiar-unprecedented, and many more simultaneous layers of vibration. Through the blending of an unusual palette of aural elements (drums, percussion, field recordings, live synthesis/processing, musical themes, resonance, chaotic systems), a variety of moods and states of perception will unfold throughout Audium’s space, along with an invitation to consider the scale and nature of the waves that carry our entire existence.
